Roundup: Rams boys outlast Ben Franklin

Host Ben Franklin forced both overtimes, but Digital Harbor prevailed behind a 41-point performance by Michael Gayden to win 79-72, in boys basketball Tuesday.

The Rams (1-1) led by seven points with two minutes left in regulation before the Bayhawks (0-2) knotted the score at 54. Ben Franklin would do it again after the first overtime with a 69-all score. The game was also tied at halftime, 34-all.

Other standouts for Digital Harbor included Darius Wilson (17 points, 13 rebounds) and Kenneth Goode (11 points, 15 rebounds).

No. 5 Edmondson 81, Knowledge And Success Academy 20: Keandre Cook scored a game-high 23 points to power the host Red Storm (2-0) past the Eagles (0-2).

Edmondson led 45-11 at the half.

Girls

No. 2 Roland Park 48, John Carroll 23: Jaia Alexander had 14 points and 13 rebounds to power the Reds past the host Patriots (1-3).

Roland Park improves to 4-0 and next faces No. 5 host St. Vincent Pallotti. Friday at 5:30 p.m.

No. 3 St. Frances 79, Arundel 29: Mariah Curtis scored 14 points to lead the host Panthers (3-0) past the Wildcats (1-1).

St. Frances led 42-12 at the break.

No. 8 City 68, Northwestern 13: Nkeiruka Okororie scored a game-high 17 points and the Knights (2-0) cruised past the host Wildcats (0-1).

City led 43-8 at the break. The Knights had nine scorers and Northwestern had three.

No. 9 Patterson Mill 54, Western Tech 19: Qalea Ismail scored 24 points to power the Huskies (2-0) past the Wolverines (0-2).

Monday's boys

No. 2 John Carroll 57, No. 15 Mount Carmel 56: Elijah Long got a putback with 12 seconds left to give the host Patriots (9-0) the lead, 57-55, for good.

The Cougars (4-3) had a chance to tie with 0.8 seconds left, but went 1-for-2 from the line.

John Carroll built on its 30-28 halftime advantage and took an 11-point lead in the third quarter, but Mount Carmel cut the deficit to 45-44. Both teams traded points (12 each) in the fourth quarter.

Montez Mathis led Mount Carmel with 14 points and Frank Webb had 11.
