Amanda Chasin scored the game-winner on a penalty stroke with 9:19 left Wednesday as Poolesville beat defending Class 2A state champion and No. 6 Century, 1-0, in the West regional field hockey championship at Washington College.
The Knights (13-3-1) entered with 13 of 14 regional wins.
"It was a beautiful stroke," Century coach Terry Duryea said. "There's nothing any goalie could do to stop that ball from going in."
Old Mill 5, Catonsville 0: Alana Kakuk recorded a hat trick and Tatiana Bodnar added a goal to lead the Patriots to their first region title since 1991 in the Class 4A North final.
Old Mill (13-2) will face defending state champion Severna Park Wednesday at Paint Branch High School.

No. 4 Severna Park 2, No. 15 Broadneck 1: Eva Klaus' second goal of the game with eight minutes left in regulation lifted the Falcons (14-2) over the Bruins (8-9) at Kinder Park in Class 4A East.
Severna Park set a state record with 31 region titles, 11 in 12 years.

No. 14 North Carroll 8, Walkersville 0. The Panthers (13-2) scored six goals in less than 20 minutes to earn their second consecutive Class 1A West title.
Molly Pickard and Zoe Rosner each had two goals, and Mia Heindel added a goal and an assist for North Carroll, which improved to 13-2.
The Panthers outscored their three regional opponents 11-1. They advance to the 1A state semifinals Monday at Broadneck.

No. 2 Loyola Blakefield 3, No. 4 Archbishop Curley 2: Pappy Guillott had two assists and the Dons (12-3-1) beat the host Friars (10-11).
No. 11 Calvert Hall 3, Gilman 0: Sam Loeffler made three saves in his sixth shutout for the host Cardinals (9-6-3).
Greyhounds fell to 3-14-2.
No. 15 Severn 5, St. Mary's 0: John Garske scored twice and the visiting Admirals (16-1) finished the regular season undefeated (14-0) in the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference.
Severn's only loss was to South River 1-0 on Sept. 5. The Saints fell to 2-14.
