Roundup: Falcons sweep Panthers in girls volleyball

The No. 2 Severna Park girls volleyball team is three games away from perfection.

Wednesday, the visiting Falcons (11-0) got off to their usual fast start and beat Annapolis, 3-0.

Severna Park won, 25-9, 25-11, 25-12. The Panthers fell to 8-3.

The Falcons' Sophie Hoekstra had 10 kills, 3 assists and went 4-for-4 serving..

Severna Park's last three games, all with 6 p.m. starts, are Mount de Sales on Monday, North County on Tuesday and Northeast on Oct. 23.

Boys volleyball

Archbishop Spalding d. Loyola Blakefield, 3-2: The host Cavaliers (9-4), led by Connor Mangan, who went 14-for-16 serving and 12 kills, needed five sets to beat the Dons (8-5).

Spalding won, 26-24, 23-25, 25-21, 24-26, 15-12.

Brad Pruissen went 15-for-16 serving with 13 kills for Spalding.
