No. 3 Arundel 0, Severna Park 0, 2OT: As the Severna Park girls soccer team began celebrating the game-winning goal, Arundel's Hailey Arpin was sprinting as fast as she could.
Jenna Farrell's shot got by a sliding Sabrina Doherty and started rolling toward the open net with less than two minutes left in the second overtime. Arpin, one of the fastest players on Arundel's team, got to the ball just in time and cleared it to preserve a scoreless tie.
"She was running down the field and I knew I couldn't get to her in time," Arpin said. "I saw Sabrina coming out, and she was not going to get it, so I just kept going and the ball was on the ground so I just kicked it out. I just barely got there."
Arpin's save kept the Wildcats unbeaten in the county with one regular season game remaining. They'll play in the county championship game next week before opening play in the Class 4A East Region playoffs.
