Fall sports: No. 8 Loyola wins in soccer, defeating Spalding, 3-2

No. 8 Loyola broke the second tie of the game with visiting Archbishop Spalding in the second half of Wednesday's boys soccer game. Avionne Flanagan was taken down inside the box from behind and Gavin Barger connected on the penalty kick for a 3-2 Dons win.

Ryan Conrad had a goal and an assist for Loyola (8-5-1, 3-4-1 Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference), which had lost its previous two games. The Cavaliers fell to 3-8-1, 1-7-1

Girls soccer

John Carroll 3, Mercy 2, 2OT: Caroline Barwick scored her second goal at the 91:57 mark of the second overtime for the Patriots (6-7-1, 3-3-1 IAAM A Conference) over the host Magic (2-5-2, 1-3-1).

Field hockey

No. 6 Garrison Forest 3, Bryn Mawr 1: Kara Frazier had two assists and the host Grizzlies (11-2, 11-1 Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference) beat the Mawrtians (6-6-2, 5-5-2).

Single goal scorers for Garrison included Bayly Jarrett, Hailee Maller and Hayley Mules.

No. 8 Mount de Sales 3, Indian Creek 0: Mandy Ignacio had a goal and an assist to lead the host Sailors (12-0, 8-0 IAAM B Conference) past the Eagles (5-3, 4-2).

Mount de Sales goalie Eve Lukowski had two saves. Indian Creek's Alex Morris had 30.

No. 10 Mount Hebron 5, Howard 0: Katie Anderson had a hat trick and the host Vikings (11-1) rolled past the Lions (4-4).
