Abey, Craig lead No.13 Spalding over St. Frances

Zach Abey had two touchdown runs and two touchdown passes, and Ryan Craig finished with four tackles, a forced fumble and recovery as No. 13 Archbishop Spalding edged No. 12 St. Frances, 35-34, on Friday.

The host Cavaliers (5-1) built a 14-0 lead after the first quarter and led 28-12 at the half. The Panthers (3-4) rallied in the fourth quarter with a 90-yard kickoff return by Khalil Stanfield and a 29-yard touchdown pass from Quantaye Battle.

No. 14 Perry Hall 45, Catonsville 7: Quarterback Jeff Iweh passed for 308 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for another, and the visiting Gators' ground attack netted 259 yards.

The win was the fourth straight for the Gators (4-1), while the Comets (2-3) dropped their first home game after 15 consecutive victories.

Severn 2, Gerstell Academy 1: Alex Luscher scored the game-winner in the second half for the host Admirals (9-0, 8-0 MIAA B Conference).

Braden Silcott had the lone goal for the Falcons (9-3, 4-3).

No. 7 Catonsville 5, Dulaney 1: Renee Gast and Lenna Meyer each scored twice to lead the visiting Comets (8-1) past the Lions (6-3).

No. 8 Marriotts Ridge 2, Long Reach 0: Maria Plano scored the first goal on a breakaway at the 34:19 mark and Taylor Hensh added the second goal at the 26:01 mark of the second half for the visiting Mustangs (9-0-1).

Field hockey

No. 4 Glenelg 5, Centennial 0: Stephanie Asher scored all five goals to power the visiting Gladiators (8-2) past the Eagles (6-4).
