Varsity roundup (Oct. 3): No. 2 Blazers upset by Saints in field hockey

Riley Meehan had an assist on two of St. Mary's three goals to lead the Saints to a 3-1 upset victory over visiting No. 2 Notre Dame Prep (8-2) in field hockey.

Caitie Bell Cowdrey, Gabby Biondi and Spira Rosseau each scored for St. Mary's (3-4-1).


No. 9 Broadneck 6, Old Mill 0: Anna Feick had a hat trick for the Bruins (6-3) in a victory over the visiting Patriots (2-5).

Sammy Dupcak, Emily Eckels and Francesca Gazelle also added goals, and four other players added assists.


No. 10 Chesapeake-AA 7, Annapolis 1: Rachel Fleig's hat trick and Alexis Arruda's two goals boosted the host Cougars (7-2) to a win over the Panthers (3-3).

Sisters Logan and Eryn Beal each added a goal for Chesapeake, and Bridgette Tayman made two assists.

No. 1 Mount Saint Joseph 1, Loyola 0, OT: The visiting Gaels (6-1-1) scored off a corner kick in overtime to beat the Dons (3-5) in a Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference game.

Nick DeShong made nine saves for Mount Saint Joseph.
