Varsity roundup (Sept. 8): Severna Park, Bel Air tie, 1-1, in girls soccer

The No. 12 Severna Park girls soccer team traded goals in the first half with No. 4 Bel Air in their second tie of the year against a ranked opponent, 1-1 in double overtime Thursday.

Junior Lexi Kraemer scored first for the Bobcats (0-0-1), and Sarah Gellert added the equalizer for the Falcons (1-0-2).

Severna Park tied No. 6 Spalding, 1-1, last Friday.

C. Milton Wright 1, Maryvale 0: Carolyn Mang scored the game-winner in the second half to lift the Mustangs (3-0) over the host Lions (0-3-1).

Boys soccer

No. 14 Severna Park 3, Bel Air 1: Phil Irwin and Mason Kelly scored while Gordie Bernlohr and Scott Huntley each had assists to lead the host Falcons (3-0) past the Bobcats (2-1).

Drew Belloff converted a penalty kick for the third Falcons goal.

No. 7 Garrison Forest 4, Bryn Mawr 1: Natalie Adamez had a goal and an assist to lead the host Grizzlies (3-1, 1-0 Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference) past the Mawrtians (0-2, 0-1).

St. Mary's 3, Severn 0: Maddie Gutkowski made four saves as the Saints (1-0-1) shut out the host Admirals (1-1).

Girls volleyball

Glenelg 3, Long Reach 0: Kara Crawford had 12 kills, Alex Wood had 12 digs, and Colleen McAulay had nine kills and four aces to lead the Gladiators (1-0) past the host Lightning (0-1), 25-5, 25-14, 25-13.

Catonsville 3, Western Tech 0: Kelly O'Keefe had six kills and Mitra Harrison had five kills as the host Comets (1-0) beat the Wolverines (0-1), 25-9, 25-9, 25-13.
