Fallston 18, Elkton 4: Jack Maranto won 20 of 22 faceoffs and scored a goal as the Cougars won their Class 2A East Section I opener. Colton Presley scored seven goals for Fallston.


Catonsville 11, Perry Hall 4: Will Bredeck scored four goals to lead the Comets in a Class 4A North game.

Southern 19, Thomas Stone 0: Defending 2A/1A state champions Southern opened its bid for a repeat by jumping on Thomas Stone early to set up a Friday date with No. 2-seed Calvert in the Section II semifinals of the South region. Colin Phipps scored five goals in the first half.

Girls lacrosse

ANNAPOLIS 19, NORTH POINT 5: Jenna Mish had five goals and four assists to help advance the Panthers into the Class 4A East Region Section II semifinals. Annapolis (7-8) will play at South River on Friday at 5 p.m.

OLD MILL 18, GLEN BURNIE 1: Allyna Threatt had two goals and an assist for the Patriots (8-6), who advanced to the Class 4A East Region Section I semifinals. They will play at Severna Park on Friday at 5 p.m.


INDIAN CREEK 4, STS. PETER & PAUL 3: Maurice Elder had two hits, including a double, and a run scored as the Eagles (10-4) defeated the Sabres (6-6) to advance to the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association C Conference championship game.

Track and field

HOWARD COUNTY MEET: Howard boys won three events Tuesday night en route to 140 points in running away from Reservoir (114 points) and Mount Hebron (76.5) for the Howard County track and field title.

On the girls side, Atholton secured the school's first outdoor county title since 1986.

ST. PAUL'S 15, GILMAN 6: Two-time defending champion St. Paul's (11-1) secured the top seed in the MIAA A Conference championships with a win over Gilman (10-2) at the Baltimore Country Club.
