Varsity roundup (May 4): Seidl pitches 5-inning perfect game for No. 4 Spalding softball

Katie Seidl struck out nine in five innings in a perfect game as No. 4 Archbishop Spalding beat Catholic, 10-0, Wednesday.

The host Cavaliers improved to 12-4 overall and 10-2 in the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference. The Cubs slipped to 8-7 and 6-6.

At bat, Seidl went 3-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored.

No. 1 Eastern Tech 9, Loch Raven 3: The host Mavericks (14-0) trailed 3-2 after the first inning before scoring four runs in the third inning to pull away from the Raiders (7-7).

No. 3 Northeast 11, Annapolis 1: Winning pitcher Christina Jordan struck out eight in five innings to lead the Eagles (14-3) past the host Panthers (0-17).

No. 7 Severna Park 4, No. 12 Chesapeake-AA 3, 8 innings: Cydney Moore made solid enough contact to drive in Haley Simonds with the winning run as the host Falcons (16-3) topped the Cougars (13-5).

Simonds went the distance and gave up three runs in the first four innings, but shut out Chesapeake-AA over the final four innings for the win.

Baseball

No. 11 Dulaney 4, Catonsville 0: Winning pitcher Garret Day worked five innings and Jack Tarantino threw two innings of relief as the host Lions (15-3) shut out the Comets (10-5).

Dulaney scored three runs in the third inning.

Kenwood 1, Pikesville 0: Right-hander Creed Mourey (5-0) struck out 10 in a one-hitter as the host Bluebirds (17-2) beat the Panthers (3-9).

Loyola Blakefield 4, Gilman 1: AJ Holcomb drove in two runs on a two-out single in the fifth inning to lift the Dons (13-8, 7-7 Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference) over the Greyhounds (12-11, 8-8).

Winning pitcher Carson Barnes went 52/3 innings and Jack Sheehan got the final four outs for the save.
