Varsity roundup (April 26): Etchison leads Westminster past South Carroll in boys lacrosse

No. 15 Westminster 17, South Carroll 1: Christian Etchison had six goals and two assists to lead the Owls (10-1) past the host Cavaliers (6-7). Westminster led 8-3 at the half.

Catonsville 15, Pikesville 1: Nate Burlew scored four goals to lead the host Comets (5-7) past the Panthers (0-9).

Girls lacrosse

Bel Air 15, Harford Tech 3: Maggie Hall scored a game-high five goals to lead the Bobcats (8-2) past the Cobras (3-7).


No. 3 Severna Park 3, Old Mill 0: Cam Clark struck out 11 and scattered six hits in seven innings as the Falcons (13-2) blanked the Patriots (11-4). Kody Milton went 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI and Brendan Simonds and George Lesher collected an RBI for Severna Park.

No. 8 Arundel 6, Annapolis 5: Matt Hagemann had three hits and a double and Will Schubert added two hits and a double and the host Wildcats (13-3) survived a three-run comeback in the final inning to edge the Panthers (6-8).

Arundel scored four runs in its first at-bat and maintained a sizable lead until Shelby Wheeler hit a three-run homer in the seventh to bring the Panthers within a run.

Mount Saint Joseph 4, McDonogh 0: Winning pitcher John Torroella went seven innings and struck out four as the host Gaels (9-14, 5-9 MIAA A Conference) shut out the Eagles (8-12, 1-10). Naite Reese had an RBI single and an RBI double for Mount Saint Joseph.

Fallston 3, Bohemia Manor 0: Wining pitcher Ryan Pickle threw 76 pitches in a complete-game shutout and the host Cougars (6-7) beat the Eagles (8-4).

Pickle gave up two hits and struck out six in his second shutout of the season.

Severn 16, Annapolis Area Christian 1: The visiting Admirals (7-8, 7-6 MIAA B Conference) led 8-1 after the first inning and beat the Eagles (5-13, 4-7). Ty Benze (3-for-4) and Everett Cortes (3-for-3) led Severn's offense. Cortes also had a two-run triple.

Catonsville 12, Perry Hall 2: Cody Brick hit a two-run home run and Nick Eiswert had two hits and reached base five times to lead the host Comets (9-5) past the Gators (3-9).

Kyle Ryan tossed 32/3 innings and yielded just one hit and Ben Hall threw 21/3 innings of one-hit relief for Catonsville.

No. 12 McDonogh 4, Mount de Sales 2: Madison Gemmill (2-for-3) had a three-run home run in the first inning to lead the visiting Eagles (7-5, 4-3 Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference) past the Sailors (2-8, 2-5). Kearstyn Chapman went seven innings, gave up two runs on five hits and struck out nine for the win.

Edgewood 9, Fallston 6: Brooke Greaver had a triple and two RBIs to lead the host Rams (7-5) past the Cougars (4-10). Winning pitcher Lexi Buchanan had three strikeouts.

Northeast 12, Old Mill 0: Winning pitcher Christina Jordan (3-2) went five innings, gave up two hits, walked one and struck out three as the visiting Eagles (10-5) shut out the Patriots (4-12). Jordan went 4-for-4 with two singles , two doubles, two runs scored and three RBIs.

Patterson Mill 21, Joppatowne 0: Winning pitcher Katie Williams went five innings and gave up two hits, walked one and struck out 10 as the visiting Huskies (11-1) shut out the Mariners (0-11). Caroline Michaels had a lead-off home run.
