Varsity roundup (April 20): Loyola Blakefield beats Severn in lacrosse, 13-12

 Boys lacrosse

No. 7 Loyola Blakefield 13, No. 6 Severn 12: The host Dons (3-5, 1-1 Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference) opened the fourth quarter with a 3-0 run to take the lead for good in a come-from-behind victory over the Admirals (9-4, 0-2).

City 8, Mervo 7: The host Knights (8-0) scored four straight in the fourth quarter to beat the Mustangs (5-1). Melvin Scott had two goals and two assists for City.


No. 1 Eastern Tech 21, Patapsco 0: Senior Jodie Bronushas and frehsman Rilee Fazenbaker combined efforts to throw a five-inning no-hitter as the host Mavericks (9-0) beat the Patriots (3-5). Bronushas worked three innings and struck out six and Fazenbaker went two innings and struck out three.

No. 4 Bel Air 7, No. 8 John Carroll 6: The visiting Bobcats (10-2) scored three runs in the seventh to beat the Patriots (6-4).

Girls lacrosse

No. 3 Notre Dame Prep 13, No. 8 Archbishop Spalding 10: The host Blazers (13-1, 8-0 Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference) have won their last two, after falling 9-7 to No. 2 Glenelg on Saturday. The Cavaliers fell to 10-3, 6-3.

John Carroll 12, Maryvale 10: Sophie Shucosky made 16 saves, but the Lions (5-8, 2-7 IAAM A Conference) fell to the host Patriots (4-8, 3-5).

St. Mary's 21, Gerstell Academy 8: Whitney Albert and Bryce Pfundstein combined to score 11 goals to help the host Saints (6-7) beat the Falcons (3-6). Albert scored six goals and Pfundstein had five. Kathryn Pipkin made nine saves for St. Mary's.
