Varsity roundup (April 19): Cougars mount last-inning rally to slip past Severn in baseball

Pinch-hitter Jaden Jackson hit a walk-off single to score Jake Brack from second base as host Mount Carmel won, 8-7, over Severn in baseball Thursday.

The Cougars improved to 8-5, 5-5 Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association B Conference, and the Admirals fell to 5-7, 5-5. Freshman Troy Baier threw four innings of relief, walked three and struck out five for the win.

Fallston 7, Edgewood 3: Winning pitcher Ryan Pickle went four innings, gave up three runs on three hits and struck out five as the Cougars (5-5) beat the host Rams (2-8). Fallston's Dylan Businsky threw three innings of relief and drove in two runs.

No. 4 C. Milton Wright 13, Patterson Mill 1: Michelle Cisco went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and the visiting Mustangs (6-2) beat the Huskies (9-1).

No. 5 Archbishop Spalding 12 Catholic 1: Winning pitcher Mackenzie Maenner struck out five to lead the host Cavaliers (8-3, 6-0 IAAM A Conference) past the Cubs (1-5, 0-5). Spalding scored six runs in the second inning and five runs in the third inning.

No. 13 McDonogh 13, No. 7 John Carroll 6: Winning pitcher Kearstyn Chapman struck out four and went 2-for-4 to lead the visiting Eagles (6-4, 3-2 IAAM A Conference) in an upset over the Patriots (5-4, 3-3).

Catonsville 8, Dulaney 7: Kolby Weedon scored the game-winner with less than a minute to go to lift the Comets (6-2) over the Lions (4-7) in Sparks.

No. 15 Bel Air 13, North Harford 6: Julia Henry had four goals and Maggie Hall had a hat trick to lead the Bobcats (6-2) past the host Hawks (3-4).

Anna Racine led North Harford with three goals.
