Roundup: Fallston boys upset No. 9 Hereford in lacrosse, 7-6

Fallston won its own annual Fred Sheckells Memorial boys lacrosse tournament Saturday, upsetting No. 9 Hereford, 7-6, in the championship. The Cougars' victory ended the Bulls' 52-game winning streak against public schools.

Fallston outscored Hereford 5-2 in the second half.


Nick Esser scored three goals and Ben Claffee added two to pace the Cougars.

In the consolation game, Northern of Calvert County beat Winters Mill, 16-6.


Landon 10, No. 2 Gilman 8: Bucknell-bound Sean O'Brien scored a game-high four goals to lead the visiting Bears (14-2) past the Greyhounds (7-4).

The win marks the fourth straight for Landon.

No. 10 Arundel 10, Queen Anne's 3: Billy Nolan had a hat trick to lead the host Wildcats (9-1) past the Lions (7-3).

Girls lacrosse

No. 15 Broadneck 12, No. 4 Roland Park 11, 2OT: Ellie McNulty scored a game-high six goals to power the Bruins (7-2) past the Reds (9-3) at the Anne Arundel Community College tournament.


No. 10 Mount St. Joseph 11, No. 14 Catonsville 3: Clark Clatchey picked the perfect time to bust out of a hitting slump and hit his second home run of the season.

The Catonsville resident hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning to break open a tight game and propel the Gaels (8-9) over the Comets (4-4) in the first game of the Jack Conley Tournament.

Clatchey (2-for-4) lined a fastball over the fence between the 342- and 370-foot signs in right-center field, giving the Gaels a 7-3 lead in the bottom of the third.

Thursday's softball

McDonogh 10, Bryn Mawr 0: Quinn Allee-Press (3-0) pitched a perfect game, striking out 10 in six innings as the host Eagles (9-0, 8-0 Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland B Conference) beat the Mawrtians (2-5, 2-5).
