Fourth-ranked Loyola Blakefield (5-1, 2-0 Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference) held off a late rally and scored four goals in the fourth quarter to earn a 14-8 victory over No. 10 Severn (6-2, 0-2) on Friday in lacrosse.
The visiting Admirals, led by Charlie Olmert with three goals, pulled to within two in the second half before the Dons increased their lead.
Alex Roesner had a game-high five goals and Nick Goles had three goals and three assists for Loyola. The Dons' Jake Stout made 12 saves.
Archbishop Spalding 14, Mount Saint Joseph 8: Zach Kalas pulled off a hat trick as the host Cavaliers (4-6, 1-1 MIAA A Conference) got the win over the Gaels (7-4, 1-1).
Girls lacrosse
No. 2 Bryn Mawr 13, Welsh Under-19 5: Julia Feiss and Olivia Rubin each scored three goals to power the host Mawrtians (6-3) past the Dragons.
Bryn Mawr built a 9-4 lead at halftime.
South River 10, No. 8 Severna Park 5: Meredith Obear finished with nine saves and made sure the host Seahawks (5-3) never trailed in an upset over the Falcons (4-3).
South River scored the first three goals before Severna Park scored three of the next four to make it a 4-3 game with 10 minutes left in the first half. The Seahawks outscored the Falcons 6-2 the rest of the way and won six of the game's last eight draws.
