Varsity roundup: No. 3 Calvert Hall upsets No. 1 Spalding in baseball

Nick Delp and Brandon Dorsey helped No. 3 Calvert Hall topple top-ranked Archbishop Spalding in baseball Wednesday.

Delp pitched a shutout and Dorsey hit a three-run homer in the sixth inning as the visiting Cardinals won, 3-0.

Delp finished with nine strikeouts for Calvert Hall (3-0). The Cavaliers fell to 4-1.

No. 2 Reservoir 1, Hammond 0: Drew Stone doubled to center field, scoring Cameron Hyden in the first inning as the Gators (2-1) beat the host Bears (1-1).

No. 8 Southern 8, South River 0: Truman Thomas struck out nine and the Bulldogs (2-1) took a 2-0 lead after five innings over the Seahawks (0-3).

No. 10 Mount Hebron 7, Glenelg 6, 8 innings: Matt Ansaldi singled in the winning run as the host Vikings (2-0) defeated the Gladiators (2-1).

Severn 11, Concordia Prep 0: Winner Sam Roder (2-0) struck out seven and walked two as the Admirals (3-1) beat the host Saints (0-2).

No. 11 Perry Hall 11, Kenwood 3: The host Gators (3-0) scored four runs in the fourth inning to outdistance the Bluebirds (2-1).

Glen Burnie 5, No. 10 Chesapeake-AA 1: The visiting Gophers (2-0) scored four runs in the fifth inning to upset the Cougars (1-1).

Boys lacrosse

Culver Academy (Ind.) 9, No. 5 St.Mary's 7: Alex Woodall won 14 faceoffs and Jack Andrews had a hat trick, but the host Saints (2-3) fell to the Eagles (4-1).
