The Benjamin Franklin boys basketball team struggled against host Mervo on Tuesday. The Bayhawks (15-4, 10-1 Baltimore City Division II) were held scoreless in the second quarter and trailed by 11 points going into the fourth quarter.
But Ben Franklin mounted a staunch defense in the fourth quarter and with two seconds left Darius Miller launched a half-court shot that banked off the glass and went in to lift the Bayhawks over the Mustangs, 62-60. Mervo fell to 7-10, 5-3.
Bayhawks coach William Russell credited his team's "poise" and "winning every 50/50 ball in the fourth quarter."
Tamir Malloy made three 3-pointers consecutively to start the fourth-quarter rally.
Miller finished with a game-high 26 points.
No. 2 Lake Clifton 69, No. 14 City 63: The Knights (15-5) were driving to the basket and making their foul shots in the first half, but the Lakers (17-2) slowed the game in the second half to win.
Blair Davis finished with a game-high 24 points for City. Joshua Parks had 21 points and 14 rebounds for Lake Clifton.
No. 8 Oakland Mills 67, Long Reach 60: The host Scorpions (16-3) trailed by one after the first quarter but took a 32-28 lead at the half.
Will Robinson Jr. scored a game-high 30 points for Oakland Mills. The Lightning fell to 12-7.
St. Paul's 61, Archbishop Curley 47: Zach Bare scored 20 points and Alexander Matsinye added 17 as the second-seeded host Crusaders (15-9) beat the third-seeded Friars (10-12) in the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association B Conference quarterfinals.

Severn 51, Institute of Notre Dame 42: Maddie McDaniel scored 24 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and had a pair of steals to lead the Admirals (16-8) past the Penguins (11-15) in the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland B Conference quarterfinals.

St. Timothy's 53, St. Paul's 52: Kayla Bacon had a game-high 22 points and St. Timothy's (11-7, 13-9) held off the host Gators (15-11) to win an IAAM B Conference quarterfinal.
Kaci McNeave (15 points) made a 3-pointer at the final buzzer for St. Paul's.
Postponements
Tuesday morning's icy weather closed schools in Anne Arundel and Harford counties, postponing a full slate of athletic events in both jurisdictions as well as some IAAM basketball quarterfinals.
In the IAAM A Conference, No. 12 Archbishop Spalding, which was closed Tuesday, will now play at No. 8 Seton Keough today at 5:30 p.m.
In the C Conference, two games were postponed. Key School will play at Mount Carmel today at 5:45 p.m. and Indian Creek will play at Catholic today at 5:30.
Two other girls basketball games involving ranked teams were postponed.
South River will make up its game at No. 11 Old Mill on Thursday at 6:45 p.m. No. 13 C.Milton Wright will play at No. 5 Aberdeen on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
