The host St. Frances girls basketball team was able to hang with No. 6 Archbishop Spalding for half the game Wednesday, but Cavaliers opened the second half with a 22-8 run and won, 57-32.
The Panthers (3-11, 1-9) trailed 10-9 after the first quarter and 25-18 at the half. Spalding (17-7, 10-3 Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland AConference) outscored St. Frances 32-14 in the second half. The Cavaliers hold second place behind McDonogh (22-1, 15-0). Raven Makins and Sierra Clark led the Cavaliers with 14 and 12 points, respectively.
No. 10 Roland Park 65, Severn 44: Daisy Alaeze scored a game-high 24 points to power the visiting Reds (15-10, 8-6 IAAM A Conference) past the Admirals (10-14, 2-11).
Roland Park led 26-18 at halftime.
