Roundup: AACS hands No. 10 Boys' Latin hoops first league loss

Justin Williams scored a game-high 27 points and Annapolis Area Christian School handed host No. 10 Boys' Latin its first league loss, 71-67, on Friday.

The Eagles (11-6, 5-3 Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association B Conference) used man-to-man defense to stifle the Lakers (16-5, 5-1). AACS led by as many as 10 points and made six 3-pointers.

Kodye Pugh had 20 points for Boys' Latin.

No. 1 Patterson 71, City 65, OT: The host Knights (8-3) made the tying basket with 12 seconds left in regulation, but the Clippers (9-2) wore them down in overtime.

City got off to a fast start and increased its two-point halftime lead by going on a 17-6 run in the third quarter. Patterson outscored City 15-9 in overtime.

Derek Oliver had a game-high 28 points for the Clippers, and Lamar Mitchell finished with 19 points for the Knights.

No. 3 Lake Clifton 66, Digital Harbor 33: Gary Jefferson led with 16 points as the host Lakers (9-2) beat the Rams (4-9).

No. 5 Oakland Mills 70, Howard 54: Will Robinson Jr. scored 20 points and the host Scorpions (10-2) outscored the Lions 36-17 in the second and third quarters to secure the win.

Howard fell to 6-8.

No. 9 Calvert Hall 72, McDonogh 61: Drew Edwards scored 23 points and the visiting Cardinals (17-4) opened with an 11-6 run to roll past the Eagles (10-8).

Randallstown 101, Chesapeake-BC 59: The host Rams (6-3) won their second game by the same score with Anthony Granger leading the way with 21 points.

Randallstown beat Pikesville, 101-59, on Wednesday.

Reservoir 57, Long Reach 56: Despite surrendering a 13-point lead, the host Gators (8-5) rallied as Seth Henry and Jon Mierzwa combined to score 15 of the team's final 17 points and beat the Lightning (6-7).

North Carroll 61, Manchester Valley 58: Senior guard Noah Neville's 3-pointer with 14 seconds remaining lifted the host Panthers over the Mavericks.

Manchester Valley (6-6, 2-5 county) had a chance to win the game in the final moments. Cannon drove to the basket and passed to a teammate, but before a shot could be taken, Cannon was called for a charge.

Girls basketball

No. 5 Western 68, Digital Harbor 32: J.J. Williams scored 14 of her game-high 22 points in the third quarter to lead the Doves (11-2) past the Rams (4-4).

No. 1 Roland Park 60, St. Vincent Pallotti 34: The visiting Reds (16-2) got off to a slow start, but went on a 13-0 run to start to the second quarter and never trailed again.

Michala Clay had a game-high 19 points for Roland Park and Lindsey Edwards (13 points) moved into fourth place on the school's all-time scoring list, passing Kelsey Twist Schroeder with 1,048.

Maryvale 49, Gerstell Academy 40, OT: Hannah McAleer made two free throws with five seconds left to force overtime and finished with 13 points to lead the host Lions (5-10) past the Falcons.

Chesapeake-AA 60, North County 42: Mikaela Gray scored 18 points and had 14 rebounds to lead the visiting Cougars (9-3) past the Knights (3-9).

Ice hockey

St. Paul's 6, St. Stephen's & St .Agnes 2: Stevie Baker and Ian Powderly each scored twice as the Crusaders (6-3-2) got their first out-of-conference win over the Saints (6-3-2), defending Mid-Atlantic Prep Hockey League A Conference champions.

Wrestling

Smyrna (Del.) 33, No. 1 McDonogh 30: In the tiebreaker match, Elijah Hutchinson beat Andrew Hurdle (160) to lift host Smyrna over McDonogh (8-3).

Smyrna led 30-15 before McDonogh rallied to tie the score at 30.

No. 5 Loyola Blakefield 34, No. 15 Archbishop Spalding 26: The Dons (9-2) won four back-to-back matches to beat the host Cavaliers (12-8) on the first day of the Cavalier Duals.
