Mir McLean, Angel Reese, Eniya Russell among 24 girls named to McDonald’s All American Game

The girls and boys McDonald’s All American basketball teams were announced Thursday and three area girls — Mir McLean (Roland Park), Angel Reese (St. Frances) and Eniya Russell (St. Vincent Pallotti) — were selected.

Nominees Jillian Crawford (Fallston), Chantel Curry (Fallston), Rain Green (Roland Park), Claire Neff (Maryvale) and Ajae Petty (Poly) missed the final cut of 24 girls. Nominees Adrian Baldwin (St. Frances), Isaac James (St. Frances), Justin Lewis (Poly) and Khiyon Washington (Southern-AA) missed the final boys cut.

McLean is ranked as the 21st player in the country and the third-ranked wing player of the 2020 class, per ESPN. The Roland Park star is headed to UConn in the fall to play for coach Geno Auriemma and is averaging 21.8 points a game for the Reds.

Reese, ranked the No. 2 player in the country and the top wing by ESPN, will stay in state to play for Brenda Frese’s Maryland Terps. The St. Frances wing is averaging 17.6 points per game this season.

Russell is ranked the 43rd best player in the country and the 13th best point guard by ESPN. The senior guard is averaging 14.9 points per game this season and will play for South Carolina under Dawn Staley.
