1. Hereford

The Bulls will charge again this spring. They edged an up-and-coming Harford Tech team for the Class 2A state title indoors and are still very deep.

2. McDonogh

The Eagles, led by Jada Seaman, have a versatile team. They will always find ways to get points, and that’s why they’ll be one of the top teams in the IAAM A Conference after winning the indoor title.

3. Severna Park

The Falcons have a solid core group, especially with good distance runners. Plus, running in Anne Arundel County all season will sharpen them for the postseason.

Here are some athletes to watch in the 2019 Baltimore-area girls outdoor track and field season.

4. Mount de Sales

The Sailors have a solid trio led by the Whittaker sisters (Bella and Juliette), plus Sam Facius. They’re going to be deep and will battle McDonogh all season.

5. Harford Tech

Caitlyn Bobb is one of top young track athletes in the area. She’s a big reason the Cobras did so well indoors, winning twice individually in the Class 2A state meet, and they’ll try to push Hereford again outdoors.

6. Mount Hebron

The Vikings also have a bunch of talent in tough Howard County. If that talent can translate into points, they’ll be in the fight for big things this spring.

A meeting before Calvert Hall won the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference indoor track title clearly demonstrated to Cardinals coach Peter Frein that this group ran and thought like a team.

7. Maryvale

The Lions are not as deep as they’ve been in the past, but coach Jason Miller’s group will still find a way to be there. The big question is, will they have enough depth to challenge Mount de Sales and indoor champion McDonogh?

8. Reservoir

Adaobi Tabugbo should give Reservoir points in different events. The Gators will also need that kind of performance from others this spring and could get it.

9. Broadneck

The Bruins, with runners such as Anna Janke, bring back a good lineup once again. They should be able to have another strong season this spring.

10. Franklin

Franklin certainly lost a few big athletes from last year, but the Indians still feature standouts such as Jasmine Johnson and Sydney Gilbert. Franklin will be a solid team once again.

Others considered: Atholton, Digital Harbor, River Hill, South Carroll, South River, Sparrows Point
