1. Calvert Hall

The Cardinals won their first MIAA A Conference title in school history. They won easily over Gilman in the title meet and have a large squad coming back in the spring, led by Sean Tucker and others.

2. Gilman

Gilman will have depth; the Greyhounds usually do. They’ll be able to score points on the track and in field events, something that’s been a staple for this team for years, and it's going to be the same this season.

3. Dulaney

The Lions also can score in numerous ways. Distance runner Drew Dailey will help, but Dulaney, like Gilman, can hurt opponents in several events – this is a deep team.

Here are some athletes to watch during the 2019 Baltimore-area boys outdoor track and field season.

4. Century

Jalen Stanton got four golds at the state meet in indoor track, and he wants to do just as well in the spring. That’s bad news for Century’s opponents because Stanton truly is multi-talented.

5. South River

The Seahawks will be tested as Anne Arundel County is one of the toughest areas around. But with distance runners like Sam Keeny, they will be fine.

6. Harford Tech

The Cobras should be the top team in Harford County thanks to the talent they’ve got. Kaya Simpson is a solid hurdler/sprinter and will help Harford Tech go.

7. Loyola Blakefield

Camden Gilmore is one of the area’s top distance runners, and the Dons should get plenty of points out of him. Loyola will be in the hunt for the MIAA A Conference top spot again.

A meeting before Calvert Hall won the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference indoor track title clearly demonstrated to Cardinals coach Peter Frein that this group ran and thought like a team.

8. Mount Saint Joseph

The Gaels have talent across the board. They’ve been strong in distance the past few years in track and cross country.

9. Howard

Howard is another team which has some depth, led by athletes like Maxwell Myers, who can do a little bit of everything. The Lions will find plenty of ways to score in their meets.

10. Digital Harbor

The Rams always seem to find a way to be one of the area’s top teams. This year, they’ve got Almighty Williamson, who can help with running and relays.

Others considered: Oakland Mills, Pikesville, Poly, Reservoir, River Hill, South Carroll
