Baltimore area's 2013 FBS players

The Baltimore area will be well-represented during this college football season.

Ninety-six local players — from Anne Arundel County, Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Carroll County, Harford County and Howard County — are listed on Football Bowl Subdivision rosters this fall. There were 89 DI players from Baltimore last year and 79 in 2011.

The ACC will feature the most local players, with 40 Baltimore-area natives on rosters in the conference this fall. Maryland leads the way with 21 players, while Virginia (six), Virginia Tech (four), Wake Forest (three), Duke (two), Pittsburgh (one), Miami (one), North Carolina (one) and Boston College (one) are also represented.

The other conferences with Baltimore-area players are: Mid-American Conference (12), Big Ten (11), American Athletic Conference (10), SEC (seven), Conference USA (four), independent (four), Big 12 (three), Mountain West (three) and Pac-12 (two).

In addition to Maryland, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest, these programs have three or more local players: Penn State (five), Temple (four), Toledo (four), Michigan (three) and Navy (three).

Gilman has the most FBS players with 10, while Calvert Hall has eight Baltimore-area players and Good Counsel has seven. Dunbar was next with five, while Arundel, Loyola and DeMatha each have four. Five local high schools have three players apiece on FBS rosters: Archbishop Curley, Archbishop Spalding, Atholton, Boys' Latin and Meade. Cardinal Gibbons, McDonogh, Mount St. Joseph, Old Mill, Reservoir, River Hill and Towson have two apiece.
