Digest: No. 7 Glenelg tops C. Milton Wright in girls lacrosse, 9-8

Kendall Little and Catie Snee each scored twice as No. 7 Glenelg (9-2) earned a 9-8 girls lacrosse victory over host C. Milton Wright (11-6) on Saturday. Katelyn Miller and Skye Graham combined for nine saves as the Gladiators erased a 5-3 halftime deficit.

The St. Paul's lacrosse team knows what it's like to be in a dogfight this year, losing two games by a goal and winning another one by only two goals.

Varsity boys lacrosse: No. 5 St. Paul's scored the first nine goals on its way to a 13-6 victory over host Gilman in a Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference game in Roland Park. "I though the first quarter was the best quarter of lacrosse we have played so far this year," said St. Paul coach Rick Brocato, whose team led 5-0 after the first 12 minutes. "We did almost everything well. We knew they were doing to be excited on their family and homecoming day. Our kids really responded to the challenge." The Crusaders, who scored four goals in the first six minutes, have won four straight league games after starting the season 0-2 and are 12-5 overall. Senior attackman Mitch Gordon scored four goals and Patrick Karey three. The Greyhounds fell to 2-11 and 2-4.

Maryland picked up a huge piece in its Class of 2017 when IMG Academy (Fla.) defensive end Joshua Kaindoh announced his oral commitment to the Terps on Twitter on Saturday. Kaindoh is rated as a five-star recruit and the No. 1 weak-side defensive end in the 247sports.com composite rankings. Rivals.com also rates him as a five-star recruit, and the service ranks him as the No. 1 weak-side defensive end, No. 2 player in Florida and No. 4 player in the country. Maryland — which wasn't listed in a top four Kaindoh posted on April 20 — beat out Notre Dame, Penn State, Michigan and Ohio State, among a national offer list, for Kaindoh's pledge. If he stays true to his commitment, Kaindoh would be the highest-rated player signed by Maryland since Stefon Diggs in 2012, according to 247sports.com. Kaindoh is the seventh commitment in the Class of 2017, and all seven have local ties. Kaindoh played at Mount Carmel in Essex before transferring to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., for his junior season.

He's also Maryland's second oral commitment from IMG Academy after four-star defensive tackle Cam Spence, a former Gilman player, pledged earlier this month.
