Washington tops Baltimore, 21-7, in 10th Crab Bowl senior all-star football game

Team Washington defeated Team Baltimore, 21-7, in the 10th annual Maryland Crab Bowl senior all-star football game Sunday at Bowie State.

The Harford County connection of John Carroll quarterback Qadir Ismail and Aberdeen receiver Joshua Maxwell scored the only touchdown for Baltimore. Ismail hit Maxwell with an 18-yard pass that tied the game at 7 about three minutes before halftime.

Another Harford County standout — Havre de Grace kicker Clay Harris — added the extra point.

Team Baltimore coach Keith Rawlings (John Carroll) said his defense played well but the offense could not connect on a lot of pass plays. Maxwell, however, stood out rushing and receiving.

Milford Mill cornerback Brandon Savage played shutdown defense against one of Team Washington’s top receivers. Calvert Hall corner Isaiah Watson had an interception. Franklin linebacker Frankie Stevens and River Hill punter Cooper McGeehan also stood out on the defensive end, Rawlings said.

Team Washington leads the series 7-3 with Team Baltimore’s last victory coming in 2015.

Editor’s note: An earlier version of this story misidentified Joshua Maxwell.
