Winters Mill senior Hannah Oneda finished sixth at Saturday's Foot Locker Cross Country Championships Northeast Regional qualifying to run in the national championships next month.

Oneda, who set a meet and course record at Hereford in winning the state Class 2A championship earlier this month, finished in 18 minutes, 26 seconds Saturday on the 5,000 meter course in Sunken Meadow State Park on Long Island, N.Y. Angel Piccirillo, of Homer City, Pa., won the 33rd annual event in 18:01, the third fastest time run on the course by a girl.

The top 10 finishers qualify to run at the Foot Locker Cross Country Championship National Finals in San Diego's Balboa Park on Dec. 10.

An All-Metro selection last season, Oneda also won the girls elite race at the Bull Run this fall. She was the only runner from Maryland – boy or girl – to qualify for the national championships.
