Player of the Year
Dino Gregory
Mount St. JosephGregory averaged 14.4 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.7 blocked shots in leading the second-ranked Gaels (25-8) to second place finishes behind No. 1 Towson Catholic in both the Baltimore Catholic League and the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference.
The 6-foot-8 senior post player, who had committed to Maryland before his junior season, was a guiding force for a young Gaels backcourt, whose inexperience put added pressure on him offensively. Gregory's power moves include an array of dunks and dazzling hook shots, and he also improved his outside game this season. He made one three-pointer in his career - a buzzer-beater in regulation, as the Gaels went on to defeat St. John's of Washington in overtime this season.
Coach of the Year
Mike Daniel
CityDaniel led a young team to City's best record (20-5) since the Knights went 18-8 in 1999. With three starting sophomores and a junior around senior All-Metro guard Devin Brown, the Knights advanced to the Class 3A North regional final, where they were upset by Mervo.
Daniel is in his second season at City after compiling a 361-185 record in 20 seasons at Towson Catholic.
