The senior point guard closed a stellar four-year career by leading the No. 2 Gaels (32-5) to a third-place finish at the 50th annual Alhambra Catholic Invitational Tournament at Frostburg State. Atkins, a two-time Baltimore Catholic League Player of the Year, opened the tournament with 21 points and five assists in the Gaels' 59-41 win over Utah-based Judge Memorial on Thursday. In a 74-67 loss to D.C.-based Gonzaga on Friday, he scored 27 points before coming back Saturday to score 12 points and add seven rebounds and seven assists in a 53-49 win over Benedictine (Va.) in the third-place game. Atkins, who maintains a 3.2 grade-point average, is set to play at Notre Dame next year.
