Boys Athlete of the Week: Shane Milam, McDonogh, wrestling

In the biggest, most competitive wrestling tournament in Maryland, Milam, a senior, won his 171-pound weight class at Mount Mat Madness on Saturday. He won five bouts - two by decision, two by major decision and one by pin. His closest match of the tournament was a pressure-filled final against St. Mark's Ty Snook. St. Mark's was McDonogh's primary challenger for second place at the event, and when Milam held on for a 3-2 victory, it clinched second for the Eagles. "I knew the significance of it," Milam said. "But I put it out of my mind. Thinking about it wouldn't make me wrestle any better." Milam is 29-3 this season and 156-30 for his career. He carries a 3.2 grade-point average and will attend the University of Pennsylvania.
