The junior pitcher-first baseman played key roles in three wins last week, including two over ranked teams, as the Mustangs moved up to No. 1. In his first outing of the season, Ruse went five innings, striking out four, and picked up the win in beating No. 2 Severna Park, 12-2. He also had two hits and two RBIs in that game. He singled in the winning run to edge No. 14 River Hill, 1-0, and hit a two-run home run in an 11-1 win over Rising Sun. Ruse, who pitched for the Oriolelanders fall showcase team, is batting .444 and has five RBIs through four games. He has a 3.0 grade-point average and has committed orally to play for Maryland.
