MPSSAA releases state softball tournament bracket

Eleven local teams received No. 1 seeds when the state softball playoff bracket was unveiled Tuesday by the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association.

In Class 4A, Perry Hall was the top seed in the north region section one and No. 10 Chesapeake-AA was the top seed in the east region section one.

In Class 3A, No. 2 Northeast was the top seed in section one of the south region, No. 4 Mount Hebron was the top seed in section one of the east region, Towson was the top seed in section one of the north region, North Harford was the top seed in section two of the north region and No. 5 River Hill was the top seed in section two of the east region.

In Class 2A, Patterson Mill was the top seed in section one of the east region, Lansdowne was the top seed in section one of the north region, Liberty was the top seed in section one of the west region and No. 1 Eastern Tech was the top seed in section two of the north region.

In Class 1A, Sparrows Point was the top seed in section one of the north region and National Academy Foundation was th etop seed in section two of the south region.

The first round of the state tournament begins Thursday. Section semifinals are Monday.

Section finals are May 14 and regional finals are May 16. The state semifinals begin May 20 at Bachman Softball Park in Glen Burnie.

The state championship will be at Robert Taylor Stadium at the University of Maryland on May 24 and May 25.
