The boys and girls state soccer championships are on the move, scheduled for Loyola University's Ridley Athletic Complex after spending the past 15 years at UMBC.
The Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association announced the move on Friday. The state finals are slated for Nov. 13-15.
"Unfortunately, UMBC has some facility issues that will unlikely be resolved by the time the games take place, so we needed to find an alternative," MPSSAA executive director Ned Sparks said. "Lucky for us, we were able to secure the Loyola site and we're looking forward to it."
The 4-year-old Ridley Athletic Complex is located at 2221 West Cold Spring Lane in Baltimore. As far as Ridley becoming the permanent home to the championships, Sparks said it will be a "year-to-year thing."
