State cross country championship will return to Hereford this fall

(Steve Ruark / The Baltimore Sun)

The Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association confirmed on its website Friday that the state championship cross country meet will return to Hereford this fall.

Construction at Hereford last year pushed the meet to McDaniel College in Westminster. Though some renovation/construction continues, the meet will return to Hereford on Nov. 8.

MPSSAA executive director Ned Sparks said at the start of the fall season that the meet likely would be at Hereford. That wasn't made official until Friday.

Now Hereford will reclaim the meet, which is pretty much an all-day affair. The course will be different than in years past, and the MPSSAA posted video on its website that showed those changes.

The MPSSAA also said on its website that there could be some "minor changes on meet day" due to the construction/renovation.
