Before the start of the past basketball season, St. Frances senior guard Kurk Lee Jr. said he was going to be patient when it came down to deciding where he would play his college ball.
Lee has finally found his next stop, making a commitment to Drexel on Monday.
A three-year starter at St. Frances, Lee averaged 16.4 points, 5.8 assists and 3.6 rebounds to earn All-Metro first-team honors and lead the Panthers to the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference. He finished his high school career with 1,372 points and 602 assists.
At Drexel, Lee will play for new coach Zach Spiker, who replaces Bruiser Flint.
Spiker spent the previous seven years at Army, finishing with 102 wins. Last season, the Black Knights went 19-14.
Drexel, which competes in the Colonial Athletic Association, went 6-25 overall and 3-15 in conference play last season.
Lee said the coaching staff, the academic fit and chance to play right away played a big part in his decision. He plans to study sports management.
"I'm grateful for the opportunity and looking forward to working with a coaching staff that I really bonded with," Lee said. "It was a great process and I enjoyed every minute of it. It's a great feeling knowing where I'm going play basketball and also get a great education."
