The overnight snow closed schools in every public school system in the Baltimore metro area and almost all private and parochial schools, wiping out Tuesday's high school sports schedule and postponing the start of the spring season for IAAM and MIAA schools.
The state Class 3A and 4A indoor track championships were postponed until Monday at the Prince George's Sports and Learning Complex.
Full schedules of basketball games also were postponed in Baltimore City, Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll and Harford counties. For complete updates on make-up dates, go to CountySportsZone.com.
Although the winter season is coming to an end, teams still have until Monday to finish games that count toward the basketball seedings for the state playoffs. The seedings will be announced Feb. 24, but teams can still play until Feb. 26. Sectional playoffs begin Feb. 27 for girls and Feb. 28 for boys.
Several jurisdictions also have championships, beginning with Baltimore City on Saturday at Morgan State. Baltimore County's championships are scheduled for Feb. 24 at Towson's SECU Arena, and Anne Arundel's championships are Feb. 25 at Northeast High School.
With basketball championships decided in the IAAM and MIAA on Sunday, spring practice was scheduled to begin Tuesday for lacrosse, baseball, softball and other sports, but that will have to wait at least one more day.
