The girls soccer scene in Howard County has been an unpredictable blur this season, dominated by strong play from a handful of teams all capable of beating each other on any given day.
Defending county and Class 3A state champion River Hill, a strong favorite to repeat going into the season, has found itself in the driver's seat to do just that.
The No. 6 Hawks (9-4-1 overall and 8-1-1 in Howard) will capture the title with a win or tie against visiting Wilde Lake (6-4-1, 7-2-1)today. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
Wilde Lake goes into the game tied for second place with No. 5 Centennial (9-2-1, 7-2-1). The Eagles, who fell to Reservoir on Tuesday, will host Mount Hebron today at 5:30 p.m.
If Wilde Lake upsets River Hill and Centennial gets past Mount Hebron, all three teams would finish with a 8-2-1 county mark and thus be declared tri-champions. If Wilde Lake wins and Centennial loses, River Hill and Wilde Lake would be declared co-champions.
