Weekly Maryland recruiting roundup

The addition of power forward Charles Mitchell to Maryland's 2012 recruiting class Thursday earned the Terps plenty of praise from basketball analysts.

Scout.com's Evan Daniels now has Maryland's five-man group ranked 13th in the country. While the Terps could add another prospect to their list, Daniels said it would be tough for Maryland to move up much higher. Mitchell's commitment, though, was significant.

"They just needed more post depth," Daniels said Thursday. "You can't really be that picky this late in the game looking for a post player. He's definitely a nice piece of the puzzle. [You've got] Jake Layman, a 6-8 forward, and Shaquille Cleare, who – just like Charles – is a space eater. Between those two guys, you're going to have a lot of beef on the interior. It's probably one of the strongest groups of players, with Cleare and Layman [as headliners] and solid guys in Charles Mitchell, Seth Allen and Damonte Dodd."
