Randallstown coach Ray Wright was named the Ravens' High School Football Coach of the Week on Thursday after leading the Rams to a 3-0 start in which they did not allow a single point.

The honor came after the Rams' 14-0 win over Chesapeake-BC on Sept. 16. Mike Akinleye ran seven yards for a touchdown on the game's first drive and that was all the Rams needed.

"The chemistry on this team is fantastic," Wright said in a news release. "The boys really like each other, really like hanging out together outside of football and are genuinely happy for each other's success. They have taken our slogan this year – 'I am my brother's keeper' – to heart as they help each other battle and overcome adversity on the field, in the weight room, in the classroom and in life."

Although the Rams' win streak came to an end Saturday in a 35-0 loss to Hereford, Wright said the team chemistry should enable the Rams to rebound quickly.

Wright and previous winners Matt Miller of Winters Mill and Carlos Dunmoodie of Centennial will be honored Dec. 18 at the Ravens-Eagles game at M&T Bank Stadium along with winners for the next seven weeks of the regular season. One coach will be named the Ravens High School Football Coach of the Year.

Each weekly winner will receive $2,000 from the Ravens for his athletics department and an award from coach John Harbaugh.
