Poly boys, Digital Harbor girls win team titles in Baltimore City cross country championships

The Poly boys and Digital Harbor girls came away with the team championships at Saturday's Baltimore City cross county championships meet at Herring Run Park.

Poly had little trouble taking the team title, putting five runners in the top 19 and finishing with 61 points, far ahead of second-place National Academy Foundation (107 points).

NAF's Malik Jackson won the individual title, finishing in first with a time of 17 minutes, 45.92 seconds. He beat out Poly's Derrick Sampson (18:01.57).

The Digital Harbor girls had a tougher time en route to their championship. They finished with 41 points, edging out Poly (46) as the Engineers just missed a sweep of the team titles.

Poly's Ijeoma Ike-Amaechi took first place in 21:03.65, easily beating out Summer Gross of Dunbar (21:53.47). Achol Odolla from Digital Harbor was third (22:03.00).

The meet originally was scheduled for Wednesday but was pushed back because of rainy conditions.
