It's safe to say Dundalk freshman Hunter Machin is ready for the bowling season.
In his first season on the school's allied bowling team, Machin bowled a perfect 300 during practice at AMF Dundalk Lanes on Monday. The perfect score was nothing new for Machin, who has grown up bowling and has three perfect games on his resume.
"It was very exciting to watch, " said Dundalk coach Valerie Schenck, who added that the crowd grew with every passing perfect frame. "After every strike, we cheered him on."
Dundalk, which opens its season against Patapsco next Tuesday, has had four practices so far and Machin has a 227 average in the eight games he's played.
What has impressed Schenck just as much is Machin's willingness to teach his teammates proper technique. Dundalk has nine bowlers on the team.
"He's always giving pointers and he cheers just as hard when someone new to bowling gets a strike," Schenck said.
