Patterson Mill field hockey standout Linnea Gonzales, The Sun's 2013 All-Metro Player of the Year, has been named a first-team All-American by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.
Gonzales, a midfielder, had 36 goals and 22 assists this season to lead the Huskies into the Class 1A state final. She was the only area player on the 16-player team.
The junior has verbally committed to the University of Maryland.
Two other area players, Severna Park senior defender Maeve Doherty and Glenelg Country senior goalie Kelly Johnson, were named second and third team, respectively.
