Mount Saint Joseph basketball player Jalen Smith, a 6-foot-9 sophomore center, has been invited to try out for the U.S. Under-17 junior national team June 10-12 in Colorado Springs.
Smith will compete for an opportunity to represent the United States at the FIBA World Championship June 23-July 3 in Zaragoza, Spain.
In his second varsity season with the Gaels, Smith averaged 12 points, seven rebounds and two blocks per game.
Smith also has been invited to attend the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) Top 100 High School Basketball Camp, also scheduled this summer.
