Milford Mill coach Reggie White quietly hits 100 career wins

Milford Mill football coach Reggie White knew he was getting close to his 100th career coaching win coming into this season. He just wasn't sure how many wins he needed. He thought about four.He needed only two -- so his milestone went by without notice.The Millers celebrated a big win over last year's Class 3A state finalist Dundalk on Sept. 9, but they didn't realize it was their coach's 100th career victory.&quot;I was thinking, 'Do I say something? Do I not say something?'&quot; White said. &quot;I figured, I would not say anything and it would come when it comes, so I haven't said a word. I can't lie and say it wasn't in the back of my head. I was just reading about [Dunbar coach Lawrence Smith's 100th win] and I'm so happy for him and his achievements, but I wasn't sure of the numbers myself. I wasn't sure if it was 98 or 96, if I needed four or if it was less than that.&quot;With the Milers off to a 3-0 start, White, who played football at Milford Mill, is 101-65 in 14 years as their coach. He is one of only 25 active high school football coaches in Maryland with 100 wins.&quot;It's just part of me, going out here and coaching football and I've had a great bunch of guys over these past 14 years that allowed me to get these wins, a great bunch of coaches, the support staff. It's not just Reggie. It's the coaches. It's the players. It's definitely my wife at home.&quot;White, who spent four years in the NFL with the San Diego Chargers and the New England Patriots, played on the Millers' 1987 state championship team.&quot;The incredible part is doing it at your alma mater and being able to coach both of my sons has been just awesome,&quot; said White, whose son Reggie Jr. is a junior wide receiver at Monmouth while Nicholas is a junior offensive lineman for the Millers.&quot;I did the college thing for a while and I never saw my kids, so I said, 'The heck with that. I want to coach high school and see them every day.' The opportunity to come home -- I was still being nurtured by John Buchheister and John Pasteur [White's high school coaches], helping me come on in and now I've had an incredible 14 years. I have a level of love for my school that's second to none. It makes me a lot prouder to do it at my alma mater.&quot;
