Something that not many people know about you: "I'm a humble guy. And I'm a religious guy."
Best football moment: "My best football moment was in high school. [Pinole Valley] was on the 1-yard line, we were up three points, and all they had to do was get 1 yard to get a touchdown. They did play-action, I was at corner, I blitzed and the tight end was wide open. But I batted the pass down to end the game and everybody rushed the field. That was the championship game of the conference."
Role model: "I would probably say this guy named John Smith because he does a thing [in the Bay Area] called Young Life – a Christian-based group that helps teenagers in high school to find their way to God and to be there for them so they won't be on the street doing something bad. I was actually a counselor in August. That helped [strengthen] my belief in God."
Why Maryland? "I just felt like it was the right place to go. I felt at home when I was there. It's the best opportunity as far as playing football and getting a good degree. I like the coaching staff and I just felt like I was where I was supposed to be."
