McDonogh soccer standout Tunde Akinlosotu will not be in the lineup Thursday when the No. 1 Eagles host No. 7 Loyola Blakefield in the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference semifinals.

McDonogh coach Brandon Quaranta confirmed that Akinlosotu will not play Thursday, but declined to elaborate.

A four-year starter and two-time All-Metro first-team forward, Akinlosotu leads the Eagles (19-0-1) in scoring with 18 goals and 15 assists this season.

The school's director of communications, Nina C. Sinnott, did not return a phone call on Wednesday, but did send an email reply stating: "McDonogh School has the utmost respect for the privacy of our students, and we do not discuss personal matters."

Akinlosotu has committed to George Mason and was recently selected to participate in the fifth annual SIMA High School All-American Game, set for Dec. 5 in Raleigh, N.C.

Thursday's game, set for 3:15 p.m.,  is a rematch of last year's championship game. The winner will meet the Archbishop Curley-Calvert Hall semifinal winner in the title game, which will take place at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at CCBC-Essex.

Last season, Loyola won the crown with a 2-0 upset win against McDonogh to end the Eagles' bid for a perfect season.
