McDonogh girls soccer's Bridgette Andrzejewski named national Player of the Year

McDonogh girls soccer standout Bridgette Andrzejewski has been selected as the 2014 High School National Player of the Year by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

Andrzejewski, a junior forward, scored an area-high 32 goals and added 11 assists to lead the No. 1 Eagles to the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference championship and a perfect 15-0 season.

Earlier Monday, McDonogh senior midfielder Connor Smith received the boys award to make history as the only duo to claim the honors from the same school in the same year.

Andrzejewski, who has committed to North Carolina, has 76 goals and 29 assists in her three varsity seasons.

A pool player for the Under-18 U.S. national team, she will be recognized at the NSCAA Convention set to take place Jan. 14-18 in Philadelphia.
