Calvert Hall made the biggest move in this week's Maryland High School Football State Poll, but it was downward -- falling nine spots after losing to St. Frances 20-14, Saturday.

The Cardinals dropped to No. 21 as they fell to 4-3 this season.

The area's other teams held their rankings or moved up one. Gilman (6-2) remained No. 2 after beating Friendship Collegiate (D.C.) 42-27, and McDonogh stayed at No. 3 with a 38-13 win over Loyola.

Northwest (7-0) held onto the top spot after crushing Wootton, 57-0.

Arundel, one of 12 undefeated teams in the state poll, climbed to No. 7 while Mount Saint Joseph (7-1) remained at No. 10 with Franklin at No. 13 and River Hill at No. 16.

No. 18 Broadneck (7-0), No. 19 Archbishop Curley (7-0), No. 22 Milford Mill (7-0) and No. 24 Howard (7-0) each moved up a spot.

Three local teams received votes but not enough to crack the Top 25: Mervo (6-0), Old Mill (5-2) and North Carroll (6-1).
