The Towson football program today announced its 19-man recruiting class -- a group heavy on local talent and FBS transfers.
Leading the way for the Tigers locally is Old Mill running back Rob Chesson, a Baltimore Sun first-team All-Metro selection who led the Patriots to the Class 4A state football championship. Chesson holds the Maryland state record for touchdowns in a season with 49.
Aberdeen wide receiver Christian Carpenter was also an All-Metro player thanks to a senior season in which he caught 64 passes for 1,112 yards and 14 touchdowns. Defensively, Carpenter made 148 tackles and six interceptions.
Juleon Killikelly-Lee, a cornerback from Woodlawn who spent his first three years of high school at Western Tech, finished his senior season with 546 yards passing and 13 touchdowns, plus 521 yards rushing.
Archbishop Spalding offensive lineman Shayne Sullivan rounds out the Tigers' local high school signees. The 6-foot-6, 285-pound tackle was a first-team all-state selection.
Towson's FBS transfers are: defensive lineman Brendon Gannon, a Cardinal Gibbons grad who started his college career at Western Michigan; defensive back Darrell Givens, a Fort Washington native who comes to Towson from Rutgers; defensive back Ben Harvey, a Columbia native who had walked on to South Carolina; and cornerback Jordan Love, a Georgia transfer from Glen Allen, Va.
