John Carroll boys basketball rising junior guard Immanuel Quickley got good news Monday night. Today's was even better.
Hours after he received a scholarship offer from Maryland, Quickley on Tuesday was named to USA Basketball's 12-player roster for the FIBA under-17 World Championship, held June 23-July 3 in Zaragoza, Spain.
Mount Saint Joseph forward Jalen Smith was one of five finalists who did not make the cut.
Quickley, the All-Metro Player of the Year for the 2015-16 season, impressed recruiting analysts at the tryouts for the team, video of which can be seen above. 247Sports.com recruiting analyst Jerry Meyer compared him to Washington Wizards guard John Wall.
Forward Jaren Jackson Jr., a Class of 2017 prospect from Indianapolis and a top Maryland target, also made the team.
