The sophomore sprinter won the 800-meter race at the Montgomery Invitational Saturday at the Prince George’s Sports and Learning Complex. She also finished second in the 500 meters and swept three races at a Baltimore County meet on Wednesday. At the Montgomery meet, McNeil won by nearly nine seconds to finish the 800 meters in 2 minutes, 16.94 seconds – the fastest time in Maryland this fall and the eighth fastest in the country, according to the running web site MileSplit.com. She was second in the 500 meters by less than a second, finishing in 1:14.59, the second-fastest time in Maryland and the second-fastest in the nation. A first-team All-Metro selection last winter, McNeil is the defending Class 3A state champion at 500 meters and helped the Indians to the state indoor track title.
